Abstract

This case study focuses on a challenging scenario that necessitated a strategic alliance. The subject, a 68-year-old man named Rashid, experienced symptoms including right upper extremity twitching and slurred speech, ultimately diagnosed as a severe ischemic stroke affecting the right hemisphere. While physically incapacitated, Rashid retained intact receptive and expressive language and cognitive abilities. However, his ability to articulate speech was severely impaired, rendering his speech unintelligible. It's clear that Mr. Rashid's case required a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to address the challenges he faced after his severe ischemic stroke. Here's a breakdown of the difficult case and how an alliance was formed among various specialists to improve his communication and swallowing abilities
