Farmers Experiences on Rice Tariffication Law Implementation

Abstract

This study determined the experiences of rice farmers under the implementation of the Rice Tariffication Law (RTL). The data included the socio-demographic profile of the respondents and their background information about RTL, rice production practices, and experiences with RTL. The respondents were identified through complete enumeration and were interviewed using a structured survey questionnaire in March 2024. The results showed that most of the respondents had ages ranging from 50 to 58 years, were female, and married. The majority of them produced one to two hectares of farmland, kept records on rice production, and got their replacement stocks from within the municipality. From their experiences, a high number of the respondents have the knowledge and are in favor of the law but do not concur with enhanced income. They were provided with equipment and services to maintain their production. The researcher concludes that majority of the respondents produced more in terms of production aspects and are supporting the services and guidance of the law Dean-College of Agriculture, Southern Christian College, Midsayap, Cotabato in managing their rice production.
