Manipur is the gateway of India to the Southeast Asia and it is the meeting ground of cultural trends from different parts of India and neighboring countries and as such one finds intermingling of peoples and cultures of India and neighboring countries. So, the mainland Indian came from the western corridor from Tripura, Assam and Bengal (Bangladesh) via Silchar and Silyet through Jiribam. The real Muslim settlement began in the 16th century during king Khagemba. In course of time, they settled down and absorbed in the local society and environment and became known as Meitei-Pangal later on. They took active party in any events under the king and even during the colonial rule in political activities. During the pre-merger and post-merger period, some prominent Meitei-Pangals participated in the government formation even inducted as a minister. In this paper I am going to emphasize the political participation of Meitei-Pangals in the Manipur legislative assembly as an elected member so called MLA and how the community represented in the state assembly after Manipur became full-fledged state. So, it means from the 1st Manipur Assembly election, 1972 to present i.e. 11th Assembly election, 2017. The paper is just an attempted to let know the prominent Meitei-Pangal political leaders represented the community as an MLA in the assembly during the period to the coming generation and public. This paper needs further research and investigation.
