Abstract

This paper examined the prevalence of behavioural deviance among senior secondary school students in district Srinagar of Jammu and Kashmir. The research design adopted for this study was descriptive survey. The sample of 603 students studying in different government senior secondary schools was chosen using a stratified proportionate random sampling technique. Behaviour Deviance scale developed by Chauhan and Aurora (1989) was used to collect the data for the study. Frequency counts and percentage were used to analyze the data. Results revealed that behavioural deviance is prevalent among 23.54% of the respondents in district Srinagar and 15.80% in district Kulgam, which is in no way a meager percentage to be neglected or overlooked. So, it is critical to intervene as early as possible to reduce the rate of increasing behavioural deviance.
